Only at 24 years , Arturo Coello has already established himself among the very best in world padel. Triple global 1 number with Agustín Tapia A collector of titles and already an absolute reference on the circuit, the Vallisoletan impresses today with his dominance. But for Pincho Fernández None of this comes as a surprise.
In the podcast Banana Bridge , his former partner looked back on the beginnings of a Coello, still a teenager , whom he had accompanied during his first steps on the World Padel Tour en 2019 .
“He already knew he was going to be very strong.”
Pincho particularly remembers one striking trait of the young Spaniard: his total conviction .
“You saw him at 16 and you might have thought he was a bit arrogant because he said he would become number 1… but he had it very clearly in his mind. And in the end, he did it.”
A sentence that perfectly sums up what he already embodied Arturo Coello at the time: enormous talent, but above all a ambition acknowledged , rare at that age.
A precocious talent who became the boss of the circuit
Looking at his career today, it's hard to disagree with this confident young Coello.
The Spanish left-hander has already racked up major performances and established himself as one of the most dominant players of his generation.
And what is striking, beyond the results, is that this trajectory seemed already written in his attitude and his vision of the high level.
Tapia / Coello vs Lebrón / Galán: Pincho compares the two duos
In the remainder of his speech, Pincho Fernández He also shared his thoughts on two of the most remarkable pairs of recent years: Tapia / Coello et Lebron / Galan .
For him, both duos dominated… but not in the same way.
“Tapia and Coello, you know what they're up to. But Lebrón and Galán, they took you by surprise. Physically, they were two monsters. They played at a different pace.”
Chingotto and Galán are back strong.
Finally, Pincho also addressed the current battle at the top, praising the progress of the duo. Galan / Chingotto , which seems to be gradually approaching the level of the number 1s.
“At first, I thought they were far ahead. And now, they are very close. Chingotto has improved enormously.”
An interesting outing, which confirms a trend that is becoming increasingly visible on the circuit: Coello and Tapia remain the benchmarks. But behind the scenes, the pressure is mounting more and more.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
