The French Padel Championships have reached their final men's quarterfinals. Unsurprisingly, the favorites held their own, but not always smoothly.

Vanbauce and Bergeron without trembling

The pair Thomas Vanbauce / Joan Bergeron (TS3) did not go into detail against Ludovic Cancel and Arthur HugounenqWell helped by a Vanbauce in great form, dominating in the diagonal and capable of making the match explode with his accelerations, the Bordeaux-Lyonnais duo quickly took control of the game.
Cancel made too many unforced errors to compete, while Hugounenq, despite some brilliant performances, was unable to reverse the trend. Bergeron, solid in his build-up, perfectly managed to put his partner in the ideal position to finish. The result: a clear victory, 6/2 6/2, and a deserved qualification for the semi-finals.

Vives and Guichard efficient but pushed around

On their side, Manuel Vives and Dylan Guichard imposed themselves against Pierre Perez Le Tiec and Damien Lozano (6/3 7/5), but without completely convincing.
The first set could have turned out differently: Perez and Lozano earned 10 break points in the set, particularly at the beginning and end of the set. But their lack of realism cost them dearly, and Vives/Guichard were able to take advantage of this generosity to win 6/3.
In the second set, Vives and Guichard seemed to pull away (5-2 double break) before easing off. Vives, a little in difficulty, allowed her opponents to come back to 5-5, with even the possibility of taking the lead. But here again, they did not seize the opportunities and the experience and efficiency of the top seed spoke, sealing the match 7/5.

An explosive semi-final

The semi-final will therefore be between Vanbauce / Bergeron (TS3) à Vives / Guichard (TS1)On one side, a solid and confident pair, who have shown few weaknesses so far. On the other, the first seed, capable of raising the tone but not yet totally reassuring.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
