28 years old, Jeremiah Euphrasia, best Martinique padel player, decided to move to Spain in 2024. Despite his position aspadel coach in Valencia, he comes back every year in Martinique during regional championships.
Like many padel players, Jeremiah Euphrasia began with the tennis. “I competed in junior competitions, then in senior competitions I was ranked 1/6.”, he explains.
Le Martinican discover it paddle in 2021: “I enjoyed playing doubles tennis.”. He signs up for competitions and gradually rises to ranking until becoming the number 1 in the department.
In 2024, Jeremiah Euphrasia decides to leave Martinique to progress. "We're quite isolated (the department has 360 inhabitants, editor's note), there are still few players with only two clubs on the island. I wanted to challenge myself to something stronger."

Despite the proximity of the USA 3 hours by plane from Martinique, the question of going to live there never arose. "For thirty years, the Argentines left in Spain to train.”
He then puts down his suitcases at Valencia, third largest city in Spain, populated by approximately 800 inhabitants:
“I chose this city because it is very expensive to live in Madrid ou Barcelona »he completes.
Jeremiah Euphrasia gives padel lessons at the Bellmont Padel Academy, founded by Jorge Bellmont. He notably trained Javi Rico, Jose Rico et Arantxa Soriano, all players who have joined the world top 30.
In 2021, the Spanish becomes Qatar coach au World Padel Championship before becoming Saudi Arabia coach.
En Spain, paddle has been established for a very long time: " There are padel courts about municipal parks. It's not free but it's very affordable: €3 per person. And in the private structures, the amount varies between 6 and 10 € during off-peak hours”, he adds.
For his adaptation, Jeremiah Euphrasia learns theSpanish : “You have to take the plunge, it’s never easy at first. But when I arrived at Bellmont Padel Academy, all the coaches were talking English. In addition, the fact of give lessons to Spanish players facilitates language learning.
The level of climate, there is a slight difference with Martinique: “Winter exists in Valencia, unlike in Martinique, where it is 25 degrees every day. The heat is wet with the proximity to the sea ».
The desire to play FIP tournaments again
During the year 2025, Jeremiah Euphrasia would like to participate in FIP tournaments : "With my job as a coach, I don't have much time to train and play tournaments anymore."
However, every year he returns to Martinique to participate in regional padel championships : “I always have this desire to represent my department and France when national championship ».
For the2025 edition, Jeremiah Euphrasia will play with Kevin River, padel teacher in Martinique. In Spain, he alternates teammates and has no fixed partner : “I often play with young Spaniards ».
And when we ask him if he wants to come back one day Martinique, the answer is positive: “Not right now, but one day I will will come back ».
