À Padel touch, When PadelReference.com All Star 2025, Julien Seurin evokes its dual role as professional player and content creator, its balance between competition and communication, and its critical vision of the international circuit.
Interview conducted before the two international events in Reunion.
A balance between play and creation
“I don’t like the word influencer. I prefer content creator. And especially, I am a player first : I train, I build my season, and in my free time, I create.
Julien wears two hats. "When the results aren't there, I put more energy into creating. When the competition intensifies, I switch back to player mode. I've never played seriously without a camera: that's how it all started."
He sees this balance as a protection: "In tennis, when you don't play well, your life goes on empty. In padel, I always have something to learn, to tell. It keeps me motivated."
Couple life and high-level sport
The Frenchman also shares his life with another professional player, Carla Touly. A situation that is sometimes ideal, sometimes demanding.
" We each of us moves forward with our projectsIf our schedules coincide, we share a tournament; otherwise, we each have our own schedule. It's a strength to have someone who understands what you're going through. The hardest part is when one of you has a string of good results and the other doesn't: you have to know cut with the padel to keep perspective.
A contrasting season
His year 2025 will have been marked by an excellent start before becoming complicated.
“I started with a FIP won from the start, which was pretty crazy considering my shortened preparation. But then the results came back into order. The no exclusive in the French team and the wild card not being awarded at Roland-Garros made me think, but in hindsight, it made sense. If I had played better, I would have deserved my place. My goal is to no longer depend on an invitation »
Back to basics
For 2026, Julien has decided to rethink his approach. "I finished Australia to defend points at the expense of my preparation. december to february, priority to training volume : two padel sessions a day, plus physical training. Even if it means skipping an FIP if I'm fully loaded. Playing tired has no effect no interest »
He will therefore focus on tournaments that help him progress rather than those that bring in a few points. "Next year, I want train better, not necessarily more.
A new project with Thomas Vanbauce
After a complicated year with changing partners, Julien finds stability.
“Every Monday, I was looking for a comp. It was exhausting.”
With Thomas Vanbauce, he wants to build over time: England, then Réunion, before continuing the end of the season together. "I need a joint project, a partner with whom I can train. With a Frenchman, it's simpler, more natural."
Finding the right balance on the track
Julien knows what style suits him: “I need self-confidence. and clarity with my partner. I am an aggressive player, I like to go for the net. With Maxime Moreau, we had some great times, but also opposing styles. He built from the ground up, I moved forward. We learned a lot, but we had reached the end of the project.
The game formats in question
On the question of golden point, Julien has a nuanced opinion. "As a player, I prefer theadvantage, it's less stressful. But for the viewer, the punto de oro is more exciting. What's not normal is to do two qualifying matches in the same day with advantage. If we keep this rhythm, we need a golden point, otherwise only one match per day.
Always concerned about fairness, he calls for more consistency in the organization.
Reform the circuit
Julien is clear-headed about the current situation. "Today, it is sometimes more rational to go and get points in FIP whether Premier PadelThe big tournaments have lost their appeal: fewer points, less aid, less excitement. We must reinvest at the top, help the organizers et make players want to to aim for big events.
A calm criticism, but shared by many players on the circuit.
