Eliminated in the first round of the FIP Bronze tournament in Marnes-la-Coquette with Arthaud Dumoulin against Yoan Boronad and Jérémy Robert, Nathan Perrot nevertheless finds reasons for satisfaction. Beyond the result, the young Frenchman confirms a significant change for the rest of his career: his partnership with Sacha Huard de La Marre will be put on hold to allow him to further develop his skills.

An encouraging first outing with Arthaud Dumoulin

For their first tournament together, Nathan Perrot and Arthaud Dumoulin delivered an interesting performance against an experienced pair.

The two Frenchmen were defeated.  7 / 6 6 / 3 But the score doesn't tell the whole story.

“We knew it would be a difficult match. At the beginning, we struggled to find the right tactics, then we started to understand better what we needed to do. We came back to 5-5 in the first set, we played a very good tie-break at the beginning, but we let some important points slip away.”

The scenario repeats itself in the second round.

"We got a break point early on, then a break point again later. We had our chances, but they were solid at the net."

Despite the elimination, the young Frenchman leaves satisfied.

"Honestly, we played well. It was our first time playing together and we really clicked on the pitch."

Nathan Perrot ready to turn the page: "You'll be seeing Sacha and me apart quite often."

The separation from Sacha is confirmed

Accustomed to evolving with  Sacha Huard from La Marre Nathan Perrot confirms that their association will be put on hold for a while.

"You're going to see us apart quite often for a while."

A well-considered decision.

"We need to find something different, particularly by playing with more experienced players who have more points than us."

However, this separation is not permanent.

"That doesn't mean we won't play together again. We'll certainly continue to play together at the youth level, and I think we'll also meet again in the French national team."

Playing with a right-handed player to continue progressing

Having long been partnered with a left-handed player, Nathan Perrot is now experiencing a new dynamic with Arthaud Dumoulin. He considers it a very enriching experience.

"I really enjoy playing with left-handed players, but playing with a right-handed player forces me to take up more space on the field. I think that can only be beneficial for my development."

One more reason to continue in this direction in the upcoming tournaments.

Several avenues are already being explored.

Nathan Perrot has no shortage of ideas for the rest of his season. Among the players he would like to see again are...  Arthur Hugounenq with whom he had already played in the Canary Islands.

"We trained together every day and had a good match against a pair ranked in the world's Top 100. Why not play with him again?"

The Frenchman has also made contact with several players on the circuit.

“I regularly ask  Maxime Joris I also exchanged messages with  Julien Seurin who explained to me that he was continuing with Johan Bergeron for the time being, but that he might contact me again later.

Finally, Nathan is also looking towards Spain.

"I asked  Pablo Ayma  "If he could find me a right-sided player in his academy. He's looking."

All these signs show that the young Frenchman is already preparing for the next stage of his development, with a clear objective: to accumulate experience alongside more seasoned partners before, perhaps, reforming a promising pair with Sacha Huard de La Marre in the future.
