Paquito Navarro (36 years old), an emblematic figure of Spanish padel, former world number 1 in 2019, and just crowned at home in Seville during the FIP Platinum Seville, the Andalusian in an interview given to Diario SPORT takes stock of his career and his ambitions for the end of the year.

A season that he rates “8 out of 10”

Satisfied but not fulfilled, Navarro takes stock of his year: "I give my season an 8 so far. A 10 would come with a title or by entering the top four pairs in the ranking." Already a finalist in Buenos Aires, he wants to return to the final stages of tournaments more regularly.

The padel changes, Paquito adapts

Always lucid, the Andalusian observes a sport in full transformation: "Padel is evolving, you have to adapt or die. The game is getting faster and faster, the physical aspect is taking over. If I want to remain competitive, I have to follow this path."

A unique connection with the public

Adored by fans, Navarro remains touched by this special relationship: "I don't know why they love me so much, but I'm very lucky. I think people identify with my passion, my celebrations, the guitar... I've always felt an incredible connection with them and I enjoy it like a kid."

A tribute to Bergamini before a new challenge

Before turning the page, Paquito had a warm word for Lucas Bergamini, with whom he still forms a team until the Germany P2: "He is a ten as a player and as a person. He makes your life easy on and off the track." From Rotterdam, Navarro will begin a new adventure alongside Jon sanz, a highly anticipated pair for the end of the season.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
