Premier Padel  and the  International Federation of Padel (FIP)  have unveiled the broad outlines of the changes planned for the season  2027 Presented in Rome during the steering committee meetings organized on the sidelines of the  BNL Italy Major These measures aim to reconcile the rapid growth of the circuit with better management of the players' workload and a more sustainable development of the ecosystem.

In total,  five major changes  should come into effect.

One less tournament counted towards the FIP ranking

The first notable decision: the number of tournaments taken into account for the  FIP ranking  will pass from  22 to 21 .

The stated objective is to slightly reduce the pressure on players and allow them to better manage their schedule, although several padel stakeholders believed that an increase in the number of events would further promote the international expansion of the sport.

More points awarded in the early rounds

Another important change: players will be rewarded more heavily when they advance through the early rounds of competitions.  Premier Padel .

The winners will retain the same number of points, but early eliminations will be worth more than today.

This revaluation should allow mid-table players to better capitalize on their performances on the main circuit.

Harmonised qualifications

The men's qualifying draws will be aligned with the women's draws to provide a more homogeneous and consistent structure across all tournaments. Premier Padel.

More restricted access to FIP tournaments for top players

The FIP also wants to protect opportunities for emerging players by limiting the presence of star players on the  FIP Tour .

Here are the proposed new rules:

 FIP Gold Ranked players  1 to 4  will not be able to participate. Ranked players  5 to 16  will only be able to play by invitation (wild card).
 FIP Silver The men of  Top 24  and the women of  Top 20  will be excluded, without exception.
 FIP Bronze The men of  Top 50  and the women of  Top 40  will not be able to participate.

This measure aims to prevent the best players from monopolizing points on secondary circuits and to encourage the emergence of new talent.

End of a regulatory loophole regarding double registrations

Another new feature: a player registered for two FIP tournaments in the same week will only be able to do so with  the same partner .

Furthermore, the points obtained in these two competitions will be calculated according to a specific average in order to avoid certain strategies allowing for the artificial accumulation of points in the ranking.

A reform designed for the well-being of the players

According to player representatives present in Rome, these adjustments address a growing concern:  physical recovery and managing the succession of competitions .

The organizers also reiterated the need to preserve a viable economic model for promoters while continuing the global expansion of padel.

With this reform,  Premier Padel and the FIP are seeking to find a balance between international growth, competitiveness and player protection , while also opening the doors of the circuit further to new generations.
