Adrien Maigret is going through a pivotal period in his career. His remarkable victory in Caen, alongside Benjamin TisonFacing Timéo Fonteny and Johan BergeronThis is not insignificant. It is part of a broader dynamic, born from a strong personal trigger after his non-selection for the French national team.
“Since not being selected, this victory against top 70 players in the world with Olivier, and victory with Ben against Timéo and Johan,” he confides. A sentence that perfectly sums up the current state of mind: reaction, work and renewed ambition.
Three weeks of training, a real turning point
Adrien Maigret left nothing to chance. He trained Three weeks, every day, to prepare for the season with Richard Gasquet, a bold choice that allowed him to regain his form and high-level rhythm.
Physically, however, things haven't been easy. Recently injured in patellar tendonHe wasn't even supposed to play in Caen.
"I wasn't supposed to play, but since it's in Caen, a place I like, I came. It was a bit tough at the beginning, but when things heat up, it's fine."
A landmark victory against Fonteny / Bergeron
Facing Fonteny / BergeronAdrien Maigret delivered a complete, intelligent, and controlled performance in key moments. A victory that confirms that with Benjamin Tisonthe pair remains capable of beating very strong teams.
"The old guys are putting up a fight," he says humorously, before adding:
"We are still capable of beating some very good pairs, both of us."
On the field, their complementarity is immediately apparent. Maigret knows his partner perfectly:
"I know him inside and out. I know exactly what he's going to do. Seeing my Ben again is a huge thrill."
The lasting memory of FIP Platinum Lyon
This dynamic is not new. In last novemberAdrien Maigret had already made a strong impression at FIP Platinum Lyon, achieving an exceptional journey with Olivier Guy de Chamisso, then only 16 years old.
The two Frenchmen had notably beaten a pair of world top 100, after saving five match balls in the tie-break of the second set, before cruising into a one-sided third set.
A benchmark match, a symbol of a Adrien Maigret found, offensive, sharp at the net and mentally very strong.
Always competitive, always ambitious
Today, Adrien Maigret makes no secret of his state of mind. The non-selection stung, but above all, it served as a driving force.
He knows his worth, knows what he can still contribute, and continues to prove it on the field.
Even if physically diminished, even without being the favorite, Maigret rises to the occasion in the big matchesAnd with new important meetings approaching, one thing is certain: we will still have to count on him.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
