While the circuit Premier Padel takes a break in August, several players have chosen not to let up the pressure and participate in smaller tournaments to refine their preparation for P2 in Madrid. Among them, Marta Marrero (69), who will compete in the FIP Star de Gran Canaria, an event that will take place from August 13 to 18 at Club La Calzada.

Marta Marrero back “home”
The left-handed player, currently on holiday on the island of Gran Canaria, wanted to please her fans by announcing on Instagram her participation in this tournament, which she considers a special stage since it is being played “at home”. This decision comes after her recent separation from Aranza Osoro (17), now partnered with Vero Virseda (15) for the next P2 in Madrid. For the FIP Star, Marrero will be accompanied by Carla Mesa (32), a presence that arouses particular interest in the world of padel.
This tournament could well serve as a test for Marrero and Mesa, who appear as the No. 1 seeds. Observers will be watching closely to determine if this temporary collaboration could become a sustainable team for the rest of the season.
A high-level male table
If attention is focused on the Marrero/Mesa duo among the women, the men's draw also promises high-level encounters. One of the big surprises of this FIP Star is the participation of Momo González and Edu Alonso, freshly crowned champions of the FIP Platinum Sardegna and semi-finalists of the Finland P2. The Andalusian and the Valencian, in great shape, will be among the favorites for the tournament, although they will face formidable competition.
Other notable teams include García (46) / Diestro (44), Bautista (37) / Jiménez (73), as well as Sager (35), who will team up with local Diego Gil (82). These players, all confirmed on the circuit Premier Padel, bring an additional touch of prestige to the event.
A pronounced Canarian flavor
Finally, the participation of Iñigo Jofre (62) and his fellow Tenerifian Xavier Planas (978) adds a local dimension to the tournament, reinforcing the Canarian flavour of this competition. The FIP Star de Gran Canaria therefore promises to be an unmissable event for padel fans, offering a mix of sporting stakes and regional attachment, while serving as ideal preparation for the next major tournament on the circuit.
