The quarter-finals of Premier Padel Rotterdam P1 offered an unexpected moment of tension between mike yanguas et Coki Nieto, the world number 4 pair. Opposed to Paquito Navarro et Jon sanz, the two Spaniards fought it out... before finally winning in three sets (6/3 1/6 6/3) and securing a new place in semi final.

An electric discussion on the bench

After a solid first set, Yanguas and Coki saw Navarro and Sanz respond to lead 4/1 in the second set. At that moment, the cameras of Premier Padel captured a tense exchange on the bench.

The coach Maxi Grabiel demanded more intensity: "We miss him a lot."Nieto supports this by blaming a lack of legs: "You've been out since the second set, Mike. Stop with the excuses, you're out.".

Yanguas responded immediately: "I encourage you all the time, I came to talk to you 30 times and you didn't say anything to me. When you lose, you don't talk to each other, you have to communicate.".

A lively exchange, where the pressure and intensity of the match were clearly felt. Grabiel then tried to calm things down: “We are together, we have to put more intensity into it.”.

A victory despite everything

The incident didn't stop the Spanish pair from regaining their form and ultimately winning the third set. At the end of the match, Yanguas and Coki even embraced in a heartfelt hug, proof that everything had stayed on the court. They will face world number ones Tapia and Coello in the semifinals.

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
