It's been official for a few days: Alix Collombon et Araceli Martínez are ending their collaboration. After several months of competition together, the Lyonnaise agreed to return to this separation on the microphone of Padel Magazine, and to reveal the outlines of his new project with Jana Montes.

A separation decided by Araceli Martínez

Alix Collombon does not hide her disappointment, even if she understands her ex-partner's decision:

“It's Araceli's choice. It's the vagaries of padel and partners; it's sometimes tough, and you can't control other people's decisions.”

The Frenchwoman, taken by surprise by this change in the middle of autumn, admits that the period was not ideal for finding a partner:

“I found myself at a point in the season where it was difficult to find a partner, because many had already started a project in September and didn't want to start again now. I totally understand their choice; I probably would have done the same thing myself.”

A New Beginning with Jana Montes

Despite this hard blow, Alix Collombon quickly bounced back. She will now team up with Jana Montes, 60th in the world, a promising young player on the circuit, with whom she shares the same coach:

“I know her very well; I train with her from time to time. She's a very promising young player, with a great attitude and a lot of grit. She has an aggressive game that I think would be a great match for mine.”

The Lyonnaise is enthusiastic about the idea of this new joint adventure:

“We're going to get down to business with a motivated girl who really wants to play with me. It's a real team project. We're going to try to fight at the end of the season. I'm out of the top 16, so it won't be easy, but I have confidence in Jana. She's already shown some great things in recent tournaments.”

Two trajectories now separate

While Alix begins a new chapter with Jana Montes, Araceli Martínez team up with Carolina orsi, the Italian ranked 29th in the world. A new pair that arouses curiosity, while the Frenchwoman hopes to rekindle a positive dynamic with this young partner with great potential.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
