On the eve of their semi final du FFT Padel Tour - UrbanPadel Carquefou / Nantes, Dorian DeMeyer et Thomas Vanbauce reflect on their return to the team, their difficult first rounds, their convincing quarter-final, and the prospect of facing the P2000 favorites, Bastien Blanqué / Johan Boronad.
A difficult start to the tournament: “I didn’t expect it to start so quickly”
The first round was more difficult than expected for Dorian:
"I didn't expect the rythme "It was that high, that fast. In my diagonal, I had a young player who played really well. Frankly, we weren't doing well at all. I almost thought we'd be knocked out in the first round."
“A great pleasure to be back next to my Do”
For Thomas, seeing Dorian again has a special meaning:
"It's a great pleasure to be back on the track next to my DoThis is a tournament that means a great deal to me. I felt it. rev up "As the matches progressed. The first round was tough, but we managed to pull through against some really good guys."
In the quarter-finals, the level of competition rose a notch:
"In the quarter-final, he made me very strong impressionHe played perfectly. All I had to do was finish.
Quarter-final: “I didn’t miss a thing”
Facing Damien Lozano and PPLT (Pierre Perez Le Tiec), known for being “difficult to play against”, the De Meyer / Vanbauce pair delivered one of their best matches:
"I think I made a great match“Everything I tried worked,” Dorian confided. “I was able to give Tom the right passes, and he didn’t miss a thing either. Even if they weren’t at their best, I don’t think they would have had many more options.”
Thomas confirms:
"As soon as we find the solutions together, everything falls into place."
Dorian, a less “neurotic” player?
Dorian admits to being a cerebral player:
"My head is a knot of problems. One day I play a match like that, the next day I might not even..." dare to put a ball in the fieldTaking a step back helps me.
What he's looking for above all is to rediscover those feelings with his friend:
"Experiencing moments like this with my Tom... that's what interests me, much more than personal goals."
Thomas, however, perceives a change:
"I can feel it." less neuroticLess inclined to ask ourselves a thousand questions. And above all, we rediscovered our essence: have fun togetherThat changes everything.
The semi-final against Blanqué/Boronad: “We have nothing to lose, but we want to show that we're still here.”
The duo knows very well what awaits them:
"We're going to play some members of the French teamBastien, with whom we've always played great matches, and Yoan, who's playing very well. We have nothing to lose, but we want to show that we is still here »
Do they have a plan?
"Not yet. But it's a match that's important to us. We've often given them a run for their money, but we haven't..." never wonPerhaps now is the time.
“We’ve never beaten Bastien Blanqué. And against Yoan Boronad, it was with Timéo Fonteny, in a French Championship ranking match, so it doesn’t really count…” Thomas concluded.
"It will be a different match," Thomas warns.
And what’s next?
Thomas details his program:
"I'm playing next week in Lithuania with Yoan. Then, two tournaments with Julien Seurin as soon as he gets back from Hong Kong.
Why did Julien leave without him?
"Because I had planned not to play that week to prepare for this P2000 with Do. It had been planned for a long time. Julien had an opportunity with Thijs (Thijs Roper), a great player. He seized his opportunity. We'll finish the year together, then we'll look ahead to 2026 »
No off-track excursions: an advantage?
Tomorrow's match will be played without going off trackGood news or bad news?
Dorian:
"Honestly, I'm not a big fan of coming out of position. It's not my style. These days, all left-sided players know how to play the ball out from the back. So, without coming out, it might suit us. Given Bastien's defensive quality, it's not such a bad thing."
