Partner changes are a daily occurrence in professional padel. Projects are becoming shorter and shorter, and it's not uncommon to see several partnerships in a single season.
On the other hand, what is much more significant is seeing separations even before the start of the competition .
Yet that is precisely what has just happened with two of the young hopefuls of Spanish padel.
Goñi / Jofre: a project aborted before departure
Just a few weeks ago, Aimar Goñi had formalized its association with Inigo Jofre .
A promising duo on paper, between a jofre already seen on the circuit and a Goñi in full progression. The objective was clear: to build an ambitious project from the start of the season.
But, against all odds, this pair will not even have the opportunity to debut together.
Castaño / Jofre, the new duo
Íñigo Jofre has finally chosen to commit to Manu Castaño , one of the most promising talents of his generation.
Born in 2008, the Madrid native is still relatively inexperienced at the highest level, but his potential is widely recognized.
This choice can be partly explained by one important detail:
The two players train within the same structure, the academy. M3 by Jorge Martínez This undoubtedly facilitated the decision and the sporting connection.
Lost Goñi
For its part, Aimar Goñi is somewhat without a solution.
He is expected to partner with Enri Goenaga Carmen's brother, and he too is making great strides.
A young, ambitious duo, committed to a medium-term development strategy. Goñi, who has been steadily improving in recent months, remains one of the most promising players in Spanish padel.
A market already in motion
These adjustments, made even before the first tournament of the season, perfectly illustrate the current reality of the circuit:
Projects are built quickly, tested, readjusted… sometimes without even going through competition.
A surprising situation, but one that is becoming almost the norm in an increasingly demanding professional padel scene, where finding the right partner is a permanent process.
The season hasn't even started yet, but the market is already quite active. And this probably won't be the last movement.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
