Next to Mariano Agustín, seeded No. 6, the pair were nevertheless leading 3/0 facing the number 1 qualifying duo, Manuel Castaño / Flavio Abbate, at the time of the incident.

This setback brings his sporting year to an end. Further tests are needed to determine the exact duration of his absence.
