It is now official : the pair Yoan Boronad / Timéo Fonteny split up. After several weeks of rumors, the news broke on social media, confirmed by Yoan himself following their defeat against Javi Garrido / Diego Gil au FIP Platinum Lyon.
An emotional separation
On Instagram, Yoan Boronad delivered a strong message to his now ex-partner:
“A lot of emotions in this tournament… Obviously disappointed to go out in this way against Garrido/Gil.
But above all... a page that turns. It was our last match together, my @timeo_fonteny.
Years of fighting side by side, sharing victories, struggles, and laughter. Thank you for everything, for the pair we formed, for the friend, the brother that you are... and that you will remain.”
A strong message that marks the end of a great sporting adventure and human. Together, the two young Frenchmen climbed the ranks of French padel, establishing themselves as a benchmark for the new generation.
And now? Time for speculation
With this break, new perspectives open up for each of the two players. And several options emerge.
As for Yoan Boronad, he could turn to a new project with Manuel Vives ou Thomas Vanbauce, two players already well established on the FIP circuit and recently crowned (2025 French champions for Vives). Experienced and complementary profiles which could allow him to take a step forward internationally.
For its part, Timeo Fonteny could partner with players like Julien Seurin, Maxime Joris ou Dylan Guichard, all best ranked on the FIP circuit and already used to competing in the main draws. These associations would offer the young left-hander a real springboard to continue his progression.
The Bergeron / Blanqué alternative
Indeed, Bastien Blanqué and Johan Bergeron, currently struggling on the international circuit (three consecutive eliminations in the first round), could decide to relaunch their dynamic with a change of partners. A combination Boronad / Blanqué et Fonteny / Bergeron would make sense: the two youngsters would gain experience alongside two French padel executives, while benefiting from the very good international ranking of the two players.
Both experienced, both 112th in the world, would also offer their future partners a best entry in the FIP tables, a crucial advantage for accumulating points and progressing faster.
A blue dream? Fonteny-Leygue, the future French pair?
Another hypothesis that makes you dream: see Timeo Fonteny associate with Thomas Leygue, n ° 1 French, currently recovering. Leygue's return is expected for start 2026, and an association with the young Fonteny would be promising.
Two attacking, talented and ambitious players: a pair who could embody the next generation of French padel.
A pivotal step for the two hopefuls
In the meantime, nothing has been decided yet. Boronad and Fonteny will undoubtedly take the time to build the continuation of their sports projectPartnering with a foreign player remains a possibility, but logistical and linguistic constraints often complicate this type of partnership.
What is certain is that Yoan Boronad et Timeo Fonteny marked an important milestone in their young careers. Their separation also symbolizes the maturity of two players looking to take the next step. And there's no doubt we'll see them again very soon, perhaps face to face.
I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
