Little sensation this morning at Tennis / Padel Lésigny Club, where the French pair Olivier Guy de Chamisso / Lucas Pillon created a surprise by eliminating the seed n ° 1 (6/3 6/4) of the tournament U18, composed of the Spanish Jose Enrique Gimenez Barcelona et Alvaro Pozo Marroyo.
A great victory for the young French players, who thus join the quarter-finals du FIP Promises Paris by WME, first edition of the tournament bringing together the best young players in Europe.
"We really played a very good match."
At the microphone Teo VieauThe two Frenchmen reflected on their performance of the day.
Lucas Pillon he confided:
"Honestly, we played a really good match. At the beginning, I was a bit tense because we were playing against tough opponents, with a lot of people around, but once we managed to break serve, I felt good. The courts are great."
His partner Olivier Guy de Chamisso, originally from Paris, was enjoying the local atmosphere:
"Honestly, it's great. Well, the conditions aren't the same as when I train; in Vichy it's hot! Here, at 10 a.m., it was cold, but it was okay. We were a little tense at the beginning, there were a lot of people, it was very nice."
A winning tactic against the number 1 seed
When questioned about their strategy, the two players explained that they had targeted Alvaro PozoThe player on the right and world number 1 U18:
"We lobbed the right-hand player, Alvaro, a lot. Olive would come charging at the net and we'd make him repeat it. Honestly, it worked really well. The left-hand player was playing really well, very impactful, but we managed to stay solid in the tense moments."
A winning tactic, since the Spaniards eventually succumbed to the consistency and aggression of the French duo.
Objective: to go all the way
Now confident after this landmark victory, the two Frenchmen do not intend to stop there:
"It's clear, we come here to win the tournament " says Lucas Pillon.
"We'll give it our all in the quarter-final, then we'll take match by match " adds Olivier Guy de Chamisso.
The appointment has already been made for tomorrow morning, on the central track of Lésigny, where the young pair will try to continue their superb run.
