Maxime Forcin and Max Joris are in the final of the 2026 French Padel Championships. But it took a real struggle to get it. Opposed to Arthur Hugounenq and Alexis Coulombeau Having earlier defeated Johan Bergeron / Timéo Fonteny, the two men had to battle through three sets before prevailing. 4/6 6/3 7/6 .
A high-tension semi-final, decided by a third-set tie-break where every point mattered. For Forcin and Joris, this victory also capped off a day spent battling their nerves. Three tie-breaks played, three won. .
Immediately after the fact, the two finalists returned to the microphone to Padel Magazine on this battle, fatigue, their mental strength and this final which now awaits Forcin for the second time and Joris for the first.
"We'll need to recover properly."
Padel Magazine Another tie-break today, and another tie-break won. After a 7-6 victory in the third set of the semi-final, what is your first feeling?
Maxime Forcin:
We'll need to recover properly! That's the first feeling.
Afterwards, I was incredibly happy. I think we also won because we get along so well. We encourage each other all the time and there's no no tension between us .
I think that plays a huge role in those moments. Today, we won three out of three tie-breaks. That's certainly not insignificant.
So yes, I'm extremely happy.
Joris: "Happy, content, and relieved"
For Max Joris This qualification has a special significance. Just a few days after the announcement of his selection for the French national team, he secured his first final at the French Championships .
Padel Magazine Max, this is your first French Championship final. How are you feeling right now?
Max Joris:
Extremely happy. Extremely pleased. And above all, relieved.
I was very tired after this morning's match. I had expended a lot of energy and, at times, I clearly lacked clarity.
There's this particular game where I made a lot of mistakes. They were mostly poor tactical choices, forced shots. I think it was directly related to a lack of energy.
But I managed to react, especially thanks to Max and Kike. I managed to get back into it.
And now, we're going to play a final of the French Championships.
Forcin: "Max runs five or six times more than me"
Where Joris finished this grueling semi-final, Maxime Forcin seems to have coped better with the series of matches.
He explains this observation in particular by their very different playing styles.
Padel Magazine Physically, you still seem to have a lot of energy. Are you working on that aspect in particular?
Maxime Forcin:
Yes, I train a lot physically.
Then again, you have to remember that Max runs five or six times more than me! I tend to put my wheelchair at the net and move around less. So it's normal that he's more tired.
I also have a playing style that allows me to string together a lot of shots. And all the tennis training I've done for years helps me a lot with my forward and backward movement.
Physically, it's not necessarily a problem for me.
A second final for Forcin
Joris will be discovering the final of the French Championships, Forcin is already aware of this meeting. .
He had already reached this stage of the competition alongside Dylan Guichard .
This time, he will have the opportunity to go after the title with Joris.
And regardless of the adversary they face, the message is clear.
Maxime Forcin:
It doesn't matter which pair we're facing. I've already lost to both of them this year.
In any case, if we want to win, we will have to beat the pair that is in front of us.
We're going to give it our all and, most importantly, recover well before tomorrow.
"Arthur and Alexis played a great match."
In the euphoria of qualifying, Forcin also wanted to acknowledge the performance of Hugounenq and Coulombeau .
The two players had already caused a sensation in the quarter-finals and came very close to continuing their adventure.
Maxime Forcin:
I really want to congratulate Arthur and Alexis because they played a great match.
Alexis, in particular, lobbed perfectly throughout the match. It's obviously tough for them to lose like that.
