Italian padel is gaining momentum, with a third place in the women's category at the last world championship. In the "Squadra Azzura", we find Giulia Sussarello, a player who would like to enter the WPT Top 50.
Who is she ?
Originally from Como, in northern Italy, this 29-year-old player plays on the World Padel Tour where it currently occupies the 61st place. In progress this year, it will have narrowly missed the Top 50.
For those who don't know her, this former tenniswoman is a leftist player with an aggressive style of play.
Out of the 13 tournaments in which she participated last year, she will have managed to qualify 4 times for the final draw.
At the end of the season, she will also have managed to reach the 1/8 final in the Malmo Open by eliminating, with Nela Brito, the always catchy pair Cortiles - Casca.

Unfortunately for them, the adventure ended the next day after a match against the sisters. Alayeto
Giulia Sussarello has also made headlines on the other side of the border. Indeed, the Transalpine shone in selection with her compatriots during the 2020 Padel World Championships, but that's not all: at the national level she occupies 1st place in the ranking.
A promising year
It was during an interview with our Italian colleagues from The Sport Spirit that Giulia Sussarello confided in her 2021 season. Satisfied with her year, she looks back on her goals and her changes of partners during these few months of competition.
«This year 2021 has been rich in tournaments and I am satisfied because I have achieved all my main goals. Unfortunately, one is missing, namely to enter the top 50.
I still consider myself happy because my best ranking this year on the WPT was 54th. I also know that there is still a long way to go to enter the TOP 50 but I will do everything to get there in 2022.
Then, I got the title of the Italian Absolutes, the victories in Slams, the convocation in the national team, an eighth and the qualification in several tables of the World Padel Tour, so I'm happy with my season.»

Associated with no less than 4 different partners in 2021, she looks back on her relationships with her different teammates.
" Indeed , I played with several teammates this year. With Chiara Pappacena, there is a special feeling because we have shared many years as a pair and when we replayed together at the World Cup everything is back to how it was before.
With Carolina orsi, it was a wonderful experience because, after many years with Chiara, she was the first person I played with. She helped me a lot to understand padel, I had to adapt to assimilate her style of play in order to better close a point.
As for Roberta Vinci, her main characteristic is the tranquility that she transmits to me, I really found a great partner and I hope to be able to continue this project with her.
With Nela Brito, we were lucky enough to be able to share my best result of this year (eighth final at the Swedish Open) and I have to say that I had a great time because she is an exceptional girl, she has many years of padel behind her, she is very positive. It helped me so much to play with her.
There is no doubt that 2021 has been a year full of emotions for Giulia Sussarello and that the experience acquired with all these partners will have been beneficial to him. We may well hear a little more about her in 2022!
