The Greenweez Paris Major which ended this Sunday was not a tournament quite like the others in terms of sectors. The data of Padel Intelligence indicate in fact that the Paris tournament is that of the 2024 season which presented the highest number of shots played per match played.

More than 9 strikes on average per point
Judge for yourself: On average, the players who played in the Paris tournament hit the ball a little more than 9 times per rally. In Valladolid (September 14-22), the event that preceded Paris, the number of points per exchange was on average less than 7 strikes, just like during the P2 of Puerto Cabello (March 23-31).
La wet and cool weather of course explains this state of affairs. Thicker, heavier too, the balls had difficulty coming out on par 3 or 4 on the Parisian tracks. Which is not the case in hot conditions, where the liveliness of the bullets is more effective.
Asuncion's P2 exceeds 9 moves played like the GPM
Le P2 of Asuncion and P1 of Argentina are following the Greenweez Paris Major this year. Indeed, these two South American tournaments were also very generous in terms of the number of shots played per match.
The Paraguayan event even exceeded an average of 9 strokes per point throughout the tournament. We particularly remember the marathon matches, especially among the women, which had caused a lot of talk at the time. The question of balls then arose: should we, yes or no, offer faster balls to the players and especially to the women players when the conditions were slow?
That question was less pressing this week, perhaps because many matches went to straight sets, like the two finals.
