On women's semi-finals du FIP Platinum Lyon lived up to all their promises this Saturday, with two intense and emotional duels. We will be treated to a final between the number 1 seed and the number 3 seed.

Icardo and Guinart at the end of the suspense

In the first semi-final, the number 1 seed Tamara Icardo / Marina Guinart imposed itself after a big combat face Aranzazu Osoro / Victoria Iglesias (seeded number 4) with a score of 4/6 6/4 7/5.
The match was very intense: 86 winning points for Iglesias and Osoro, against 63 for their opponents, but also 45 unforced errors, a figure that cost them dearly. More aggressive but less consistent, the Spanish let precious opportunities slip away.
Opposite, Icardo and Guinart showed a exemplary mental strength, especially in the last set, where Icardo's experience was decisive in concluding.

Calvo and Salazar in control despite an incident

The other semi-final was between the number 3 seed Martina Calvo / Alejandra Salazar à Lucia Sainz / Alejandra Alonso (TS2). Calvo and Salazar won 6 / 4 6 / 2.
While Sainz and Alonso served to stay in the set at 5/4, a incidents came to disturb the end of the round: Martina Calvo accidentally hit Alejandra Alonso in the face on a counter smash. After several minutes of interruption, Alonso was able to resume, but visibly disturbed, she and her partner conceded the set, then the match in the process.

A final to follow between the seeds 1 and 3

The Lyon tournament will therefore offer a prestige finale across Tamara Icardo / Marina Guinart (TS1) et Martina Calvo / Alejandra Salazar (TS3). Two pairs in full confidence.
The shock will follow live tomorrow on Padel MagTV.

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
