Even at 42, Sanyo Gutiérrez continues to inspire admiration from his peers. For their first tournament together,  Sanyo Gutiérrez  et  Juanlu Esbri  created a surprise in Pretoria.

Seeded 13th, the pair reached the semi-finals after an excellent tournament, before losing to  Fede Chingotto  et  Ale Galán This performance confirms that, despite the years, Sanyo remains capable of competing with the best teams on the circuit.

Chingotto: "I'm trying to copy his game."

After their confrontation, Fede Chingotto wanted to pay tribute to the man he considers to be one of the great figures of this sport.

"He's one of the best players in the history of padel. He's an inspiration, because he's Argentinian and because of everything he's achieved. He controls the ball in all situations. I've always admired his changes of pace and his style of play. I try to copy him."

Strong words coming from one of the best players in the world, himself recognized for his reading of the game, his defense and his tactical intelligence.

At 42, Sanyo Gutiérrez still dreams of the World Cup: "I'm dying to play for Argentina again."

A reference that transcends generations

Although Sanyo Gutiérrez no longer occupies the very top spots in the rankings, his influence remains intact.

His game sense, skillful touch, and ability to disrupt the rhythm have inspired many players of the new generation, starting with Chingotto. These two players share a similar vision of padel, where point construction and variety often take precedence over power.
