While his collaboration with Franco Stupaczuk is coming to an end, Juan Lebrón is about to open a new chapter in his career. The Andalusian player confirmed this in the columns of Brand that he will team up with Leo Augsburg from the Mexico Major, a decision which he justifies as much by the admiration he feels for the young Argentinian as by the conviction of betting on the future of world padel.

“Leo is the present and the future of padel”

When asked about his choice, Lebrón did not hesitate:

“Because I believe he is the present and the future of padel. In my opinion, he is the most different player on the current circuit.”

A strong statement, which confirms all the potential that the "Lobo" sees in Augsburgers, 20 years old, capable of hitting harder than anyone else on the circuit. The Portuense, renowned for its high standards and constant pursuit of excellence, seems to have found in Leo a profile that is both explosive and promising.

“He is also a player who can still improve a lot. I have enormous respect and admiration for him,” he added.

A relationship based on respect and trust

Lebrón emphasizes a key point: human understanding. After a turbulent season marked by injuries and criticism, the Spanish champion knows that a strong relationship off the track is essential.

“I get along very well with him, and that’s important. We must start from these two main virtues: respect and admiration.”

This desire to create a strong human base marks a turning point for Lebrón, who is often criticized for his impulsive behavior. He is aware of this and wants to move forward differently:

“I often say it: I need to be a better teammate. And I still believe that. I want to demonstrate it with Leo.”

Objective: World number 1

The ambition is clear and openly stated. Both players are aiming for the top:

“Our goal is to be number one. That’s the mentality we need to have,” says Lebrón.

A mentality shared by Augsburger himself, who had already confided to Padel Magazine during the Valladolid tournament:

“I’m going to be number one, that’s for sure.”
A phrase that seems to have made an impression on the Spaniard:
“That’s exactly what I like about him. This ambition must be our driving force.”

A team to be built around the new pair

Lebrón knows that success will depend not only on performance on the track, but also on the environment.

“We want to create a good group around us. We want all the pieces to fit together so that Leo is comfortable, so that I am too, and so that everything works in a positive environment.”

He also mentioned the need to work on the "unseen" details, referring to preparation, communication, and stability within the coaching staff. A more mature, more structured approach, a far cry from the sometimes impulsive player the public has seen in recent seasons.

Two volcanic temperaments to balance

Lebrón does not deny that the cohabitation between two passionate players could be explosive:

“We are two players with strong personalities, two strong temperaments. But you have to let go, let things happen naturally.”

Before adding:

“Until it happens, we can't know. The important thing is to stay true to yourself, while striving to improve as a partner.”

Collaboration Lebrón–Augsburger will officially begin at Mexico Majorthe last major stage of the season Premier Padel 2025.

If the formula works, it could well redefine the balance of the circuit in 2026.
