The French team made an ideal start to their campaign at the European Junior Championships in Porto. At the end of this first day of the group stage, both the women's and men's teams secured victories, moving them closer to qualifying for the main draw.

The girls cruised to victory against Estonia

In their opening match, the French women gave Estonia no chance, winning  3-0 A controlled victory that allows us to launch a momentum without depleting our reserves.

The real test, however, could come as early as Wednesday against Sweden. Having lost their opening match to Italy, the Swedes can no longer afford any mistakes if they want to maintain any hope of finishing second in the group. The French team will therefore have the opportunity to take a big step towards the quarterfinals with another victory.

The boys have already won the "final" of their group

For the boys, the clash against Italy was billed as the decisive match of Group B. The French rose to the occasion, securing a victory.  2-1 .

Robert and Guy de Chamisso secured the first point, despite dropping a set along the way. Perrot and Huard de la Marre then delivered the winning point with a solid performance. Pottier and Debroy's three-set defeat ultimately had no impact on the standings after this first day.

The Netherlands are on the agenda for Wednesday

The French U21 team will return to...  Netherlands  Wednesday afternoon. Beaten  3-0  Having been eliminated by Belgium in their first match, the Dutch do not appear to represent a major obstacle on paper.

If logic prevails, France will virtually secure its qualification for the quarter-finals before the final day of the group stage, thus confirming its excellent start in this 2026 edition of the European Junior Championships.
