Alix Collombon (25th in the world)  made his return to competition this Tuesday in Madrid, alongside his Spanish partner  Araceli Martinez (25th) After a month's break, the Franco-Spanish pair did not tremble for their entry into the competition at the  Madrid P1 , dominating  Melania Merino Saez (52th)  et  Ana Catarina Nogueira (37th)  on the net score of  6 / 2 6 / 2 .

An ideal start

Favorites on paper, Collombon and Martinez had to manage the return to action after several weeks without a tournament. Mission accomplished: they took control of the match from the start, achieving a  fast break in each set  to establish their rhythm and put pressure on their opponents. Very solid in return, they ended up widening the gap a second time in each round, to conclude in  1:10 .

Heading for a big challenge

This success allows the Lyonnaise and her partner to start their tournament with confidence. But the hardest part is coming: in the second round, they will challenge the  seeded 3, Bea González and Claudia Fernández , one of the most in-form pairs on the circuit. A clash expected on Thursday, which will be a real test before the  Paris Major  next week at Roland-Garros.

Benjamin Dupouy

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
