The first major twist of the Milan Premier Padel P1 occurred at the end of the second day of the main draw. While the logic of the ranking had been respected until then, Pol Hernández et William Collado defied all predictions by taking out the number 4 seed, mike yanguas et Coki Nieto, at the end of a close match concluded 6/3, 3/6, 6/3.
A bold and constructive victory
The young Spaniards approached the match without any complexes, displaying a physical intensity and energy that quickly put their opponents under pressure. The first set, won 6/3, set the tone: aggression, initiative, and perfect communication on the court.
Yanguas and Nieto responded in the second set (3/6), but a decisive break at 3/1 in the final set allowed Hernández and Collado to regain the advantage and never let it go. Their joy at match point testified to the importance of this victory, which propels them for the second time together in the round of 16 of a tournament Premier Padel.
Favorites at the rendezvous
While Yanguas and Nieto were the only seeds to fall in the second round, the other favorites held their own.
World number 1, Arturo Coello et Agustín Tapia, spent only 48 minutes on the court before the brothers DEUS are not forced to abandon (6/3, 2/1).
Behind them, Alejandro Galán et Federico Chingotto started their tournament with a clear victory against the Belgian Clement Geens and Spanish Jerez-Carnero (6/2, 6/2).
Same effectiveness for Juan Lebrón et Franco Stupaczuk, winners 6/3, 7/5 of Chozas–Gala.
The other meetings also ended without surprise:
Tello–Alonso (6/4, 6/3 against Sánchez–Gil), García–Barahona (6/2, 6/3 against Torre–Ortega), Garrido–Campagnolo (7/6, 6/1 against Huete–Del Castillo) and Ruiz–Esbri (7/5, 7/5 against Sintes–Santigosa).
In the women's race, the favorites are assured
In the women's draw, the seeded pairs 5 to 8 also secured their place in the round of 16, where the top four seeds — Triay–Brea, Sánchez–Josemaría, González–Fernández et Araújo–Ustero — will enter the lists.
Among the day's qualifiers: Alonso–Jensen (6/0, 6/0 against Pérez-Borrero), Salazar–Calvo (6/1, 6/3 against Marchetti–Godallier) and Guinart–Virseda (6/3, 6/1 against Sharifova–Riera), accompanied by Barrera–Caparrós, Cánovas–Rodríguez et Martínez–Rodríguez.
Continuation of the program
Play will resume Thursday at 9:30 a.m. with a highly anticipated first match: Carolina orsi, the last Italian player still in the running, will team up with Martina Fassio salary. Salazar–Calvo.
The day will conclude with a promising match between Miguel Lamperti et Juani De Pascual in pairs Di Nenno–Augsburger (seed number 6), for a place in the quarterfinals in a Allianz Cloud always more animated.
