One of the world's most promising padel players is going through a particularly difficult period. Sidelined for several months due to a knee injury,  paul cardona  continues to work behind the scenes to return to competition, although no return date is yet known.

On his social media, the Spanish left-footer recently gave an update with a simple but revealing message: "I miss the competition, but I'm working incredibly hard to come back."

A post that quickly generated numerous messages of support, including from  Gemma Triay ,  mike yanguas ,  Pol Hernández ,  Ivanxo Fernández  or,  Juani Mieres .

Progress abruptly halted

Pablo Cardona's trajectory seemed, however, to be all mapped out.

Last season, the Spaniard had exploded onto the scene alongside  Leo Augsburg forming one of the most spectacular pairs on the circuit. Thanks to his enormous power, his offensive game and his profile as a modern left-hander, Cardona appeared as one of the future contenders for the very top world rankings.

In 2026, he launched a new and ambitious project with  Javi leal , but the injury quickly turned everything upside down.

Result: only  three tournaments played , the last one to  Brussels , for three eliminations right from the start. Results far below their true level, which ultimately led Cardona to end his season… at least temporarily.

Will he return before the end of the year?

That is now the whole question.

No official announcement has been made regarding a possible resumption date. Two scenarios currently seem feasible.

The first would be a return before the end of the season in order to gradually regain the rhythm of competition and prepare for 2027 with some reference points.

The second option, probably the most prudent, would be to skip the rest of the year and return only when he has fully recovered from his injury. This decision would allow him to start afresh on a solid foundation, without taking any risks for the rest of his career.

A new beginning to build

Regardless of the date of his return, one thing seems certain:  Pablo Cardona will practically have to start from scratch .

His prolonged absence will inevitably impact his ranking, while the player market has changed dramatically in recent months. Most of the players he played with, or could have played with, have already found new partners.

Upon his return, he will therefore need to rebuild a sporting project, regain his automatic reflexes and gradually climb back up the world rankings.

A talent the circuit is waiting for

Despite this long absence, no one doubts the Spaniard's potential.

At just 21 years old, Pablo Cardona possesses all the qualities to establish himself permanently among the best players in the world. His power, aggression, and atypical style make him one of the most promising talents of his generation.

It remains to be seen when fans will be able to see him back on the track. Premier PadelOne thing is certain: the circuit eagerly awaits the return of a player who seemed destined to shake up the world hierarchy very quickly.
