Nobody expected them to be at this level. Not seeded among the top four in the tournament,  Thomas Mitjana and Grégoire Vignat  created a sensation by winning the  P1000 UrbanPadel Île de Puteaux  at the end of an exceptional journey.

This victory has a very special flavor for  Thomas mitjana who secured the fifth P1000 of his career, his first in quite some time. But the achievement is above all a collective one. Alongside him,  Grégoire Vignat , class  205th French This marks a very rare achievement. Seeing a player outside the French top 200 win a P1000 is a rare enough event to warrant highlighting.

A duo born… from a training session

The story is all the more beautiful because this association was born almost by chance.

“We did a practice session together. At the end, I thought to myself: ‘This player is really good.’ I offered him a P1000 tournament… and in our first tournament together, we won. Incredible,” says Thomas Mitjana.

Repeated comebacks

The journey of the future champions was anything but a smooth one.

In the quarter-finals, they were on the verge of elimination against  Cyril Durban and Antoine Venancio Down a set to zero, they even managed to save the match when their opponents were serving.  7 / 5 5 / 4 Ultimately, Mitjana and Vignat completely turned the game around to win.  5/7 7/5 6/3 .

In the semi-final, another nail-biting scenario unfolded against the number 1 seed.  Thomas Brechemier and Matthieu Gonzalez The two men emerged victorious after a suspenseful finish.  7/6 1/6 7/6 , while they are being led  3-0 then 4-2 in the third set tie-break .

On the other side of the picture,  Gautier Boutel and Yannouck Henrion  had secured their place in the final after a huge battle against  Khalil Ben Lallahom and Thibaud de Galbert , won  7/6 6/7 6/2 .

A controlled final despite the dreadful conditions

In the final, Mitjana and Vignat confirmed they were the strongest players of the weekend. They dominated Boutel and Henrion.  6 / 2 7 / 6  and conclude their incredible journey.

The performance is all the more remarkable given that it was achieved under difficult conditions.

"That one was a real treat! In 35-degree heat, the opposing team was smashing shots from every direction, it was hell!"

The Parisian also savors a victory obtained in conditions that do not necessarily suit him.

"Hot weather has never been my strength; I'm more of a defensive player. I spent hours working on my par 3 from long range, changing my grip... and in the end, we win a P1000 in 35-degree heat against some huge hitters. Honestly, I'm so happy."

Beyond the title, this victory tells above all a beautiful padel story: that of an experienced player who rediscovers the taste of success and a partner ranked beyond the French top 200 who seizes his chance to write one of the most beautiful surprises of the season on the national circuit.
