There will ultimately be no  no French semi-final  au  FIP Silver Caltanissetta .
Competing in the quarter-finals this Saturday, the pairs  Carla Touly / Camila Fassio  et  Johan Bergeron / Timéo Fonteny  They both lost, after close and inevitably frustrating matches.

 Touly/Fassio pass very close

In the ladies,  Carla Touly and Camila Fassio  They had, however, launched their tournament in an ideal way.

Before this quarter-final, the Franco-Spanish pair had simply cruised to victory:

  • victory  6 / 0 6 / 1  salary.  Pezzillo / Beltrami
  • then another success  6 / 0 6 / 1  face  Plümer / Hering

Is  only two games lost in two matches .

But in the quarter-finals, the level clearly rose a notch against the  4th seed Casali / Dominguez Garcia .
And this time, the fight was much more intense.

After a difficult first set loss  6/1 Touly and Fassio reacted perfectly to get back into the match by winning the second set  6/4 .

They then thought they could completely turn the match around, but ended up succumbing in the final set.  6/4 .

A frustrating defeat, but logical on paper

Final score:  6/1 4/6 6/4

A scenario that is inevitably frustrating, given how much the Franco-Spanish pairing is  came very close to a very nice deal .

Given the way the match unfolded, there was clearly an opportunity to reach the semi-finals.
But on paper,  The logic of the ranking was nevertheless respected. .

Bergeron/Fonteny were also stopped in the quarter-finals

At men's,  Johan Bergeron and Timéo Fonteny  They too had made a perfect start to their tournament.

In the round of 16, they had secured a solid victory against the Italians.  Di Giovanni / Iacovino  :  7 / 5 6 / 2 .

In the quarter-finals, they faced the  8th seed Victor Mena / Marcos Gonzalez , in a match that was expected to be very balanced… and which it actually was.

A key first set that hurts

The first set was decided by details and ended up going to a tie-break, unfortunately going the wrong way for the French.

Down a set, Bergeron and Fonteny tried to stay in touch, but the Spaniards then managed the important moments better to close it out in two sets:  7 / 6 6 / 3 .

Regrets, but 14 FIP points to show for it

Here too, the defeat leaves a bitter taste.
Because in this type of match,  there was probably something to be found .

But despite this elimination, the overall result remains interesting:
Bergeron/Fonteny leave with 14 FIP points , always valuable in the race for the rankings.

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
