Just a few hours after their surprise elimination at  London Premier Padel P1 ,  Fran Guerrero  et  Javi leal  found themselves at the heart of a controversy.

Defeated in the round of 32 by  Mariano Gonzalez  et  Curro Cabeza  ( 6/3 4/6 7/5 ), the two Spaniards saw a video filmed outside the court go viral on social media.

We could see a  Javi leal  very frustrated, he exchanged messages with his coach and designated his partner by throwing: "You're a shitty partner."

Frustration after a huge disappointment

The episode takes place in a particular context.

One week earlier,  Guerrero  et  Loyal  had secured the best tournament result for their young association at  Pretoria P1 The two Andalusians had caused a sensation by successively eliminating  Juan Lebrón / Leo Augsburger , then the world number 1  Arturo Coello / Agustín Tapia , before finally succumbing in the final against  Ale Galán  et  Fede Chingotto  at the end of a very hard-fought third set.

In London, the contrast was stark. The Pretoria finalists exited the tournament as soon as they entered the competition, a difficult elimination to swallow.

Fran Guerrero puts an end to the controversy

Given the scale of the video's reach,  Fran Guerrero  quickly took to her Instagram account to defend her partner and calm the speculation.

"I see that some people are using a video from the end of our match with a sentence completely taken out of context. Unfortunately, we live in a world where a click sometimes seems more important than telling the whole story."

The Spanish player then chose humor to put the incident into perspective.

"Luckily there aren't any cameras to record everything we've said to each other over the years. If some people are shocked by this, I can't even imagine what they would have thought of the rest."

A message accompanied by laughing emojis, a heart and a handshake, proof that the affair does not seem to have left any traces between the two partners.

A project that remains intact

Before addressing the controversy, Guerrero had already published an initial message focused on the athlete.

"This wasn't the end to the tour we wanted, but that's sports. Thank you for all your support. We'll keep working."

A way to quickly turn the page after this premature elimination.

Despite this setback in London, there is no indication at present that their partnership is in doubt. The two players, who have known each other since their junior days and are now in their third collaboration, should now enjoy the summer break before returning to the circuit in early September for the  Madrid P1 .

I discovered padel directly during a tournament, and frankly, I didn't really like it at first. But the second time, it was love at first sight, and since then, I haven't missed a single match. I'm even ready to stay up until 3am to watch a final of Premier Padel !
